Customizing the PTC Application Manager

Use this window to customize the size and position of the PTC Application Manager, which appears as a toolbar on your screen. The PTC Application Manager includes a menu that enables you to start and close applications easily. You can configure this menu to include any application, including applications that are not developed by Parametric Technology Corporation.

Configuring Start Menu Commands

The PTC Application Manager manages various applications. Registered applications can be started from the Start menu.

Configure the PTC Application Manger Start menu by adding the commands that you want the Start menu to execute.

To Add a Start Command to the Start Menu

1. Highlight Start.
   
2. Select Add.
   

3. Choose the product for which you want to create a startup command.
   

4. Under Type, select the product you want to execute.
   
5. In the Label field, enter the text you want to appear in the Application Manager Start menu.
   
6. In the Command line field, enter the full path and the name of the command you want the label to execute. You can also click the Folder icon and navigate the folder hierarchy to specify the directory. This command starts the specified software product and license.
   
7. Choose another tab or click Next to begin installation.

   Use Edit and Delete to change and remove commands.

   Note: After installation, new commands can also be added and existing commands can be modified and deleted using the PTC Application Manager's Start > Preferences menu.

Configuring the Position of the Toolbar

1. Select the Position tab.
   

2. Specify where you want the Title Bar (toolbar) to appear on your desktop: horizontal top, horizontal bottom, vertical left, or vertical right.

   You can also activate Auto Hide. The auto hide feature lets you display the Application Manager as a thin line. The Application Manager reappears when the mouse is scrolled over the thin line.

Configuring the Application Manager Buttons

1. Select the Buttons tab.
   

2. Customize the icons that appear in the Application Manager window by using the slide bars.

• Max. Width—Set the maximum width of the buttons in the Application Manager, in pixels. This setting does not affect the Start button.
  

• Min. Width—Set the minimum width of the buttons in the Application Manager, in pixels. This setting does not affect the Start button.
  
• Height—Set the maximum length of the Application Manager, with respect to the size of your screen display.

Configuring the Application Manager Window

1. Select the Window tab.
   

2. Use the slide bar to adjust the size.

• Start Position—Change the location of the Application Manager from the edge of your screen display.
  

• Length—Change the length of the Application Manager when it starts, relative to the size of your screen display.
  
• Max. Length —Set the maximum length of the Application Manager, with respect to the size of your screen display.

Note: Click Reset Defaults to reset the default parameters.
